01Things you can delete yourself
If you want to remove only some content, you do not need to delete your whole account:
- Books and chapters: open My Books, choose the novel, and use the delete option. Deleting a book also deletes its chapters.
- Saved novels: remove them from your Saved shelf with the bookmark button.
- Reading history: individual reading positions are not separately deletable in the current version. They are removed when your account is deleted, or you can ask us to clear them.
- Theme preference: change it in Settings, or clear site data in your browser.
Deleted books and chapters are removed from the public feed. Copies may remain in backups for a limited period, and third parties may have already cached or shared a public link.
02Request account deletion
To delete your Scrovel account and the personal information associated with it, email us from the address linked to your account:
Email: developer.prasant@gmail.com
Subject: Account deletion request
Please include:
- the email address you use to sign in to Scrovel;
- your handle or display name, if you know it; and
- a clear statement that you want your account deleted.
If you created your account with Google Sign-In, send the request from the Google email address you used, or tell us that email address. Never send your password. We will never ask for it.
The button at the top of this page opens your email app with the subject and a short template filled in.
03What happens next
We will acknowledge your request and may ask for information needed to verify that you control the account. We do not need your password. We aim to complete verified requests within 30 days.
Once we delete your account, you will be signed out on all devices. You will not be able to sign in again or recover the account. If you want to keep any of your writing, export or copy it before sending the request.
If you change your mind before the deletion is completed, contact us immediately. We may be able to stop the process, but we cannot restore an account once it has been deleted.
04What is deleted, and what may be retained
When your account is deleted, we delete:
- your authentication account and sign-in credentials;
- your profile, including your handle, display name, avatar URL and theme preference;
- your books and chapters, including drafts, and their public pages;
- your saved books; and
- your reading history.
We may retain limited information where necessary to:
- comply with a legal, tax or regulatory obligation;
- investigate fraud, abuse or a security incident, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or
- keep encrypted backup copies until they are overwritten, normally within 30 days.
Some content may remain outside our control: search engine caches, social media previews, copies another person made, or links that were shared before deletion. We cannot remove copies held by third parties.
05Uninstalling the app does not delete your account
Removing the Scrovel app from your phone, clearing your browser data, or signing out does not delete your account or your published content. Your account remains active until you complete the deletion request above or ask us to delete individual content.
If you only want to stop receiving notifications or emails, you can adjust your device settings or contact us. Scrovel currently does not send marketing emails.
06Need help?
